Exposure is the combination of ISO, aperture, and shutter speed which combine to capture the picture. This known as the exposure triangle.

  • ISO determines the sensitivity of the film or sensor on which the image is captured.
  • Aperture is the size of the opening through which light travels through the lens.
  • Shutter speed determines how long the shutter (or aperture) is open, determining how much light hits the sensor or film.
